You MUST register by December 31, 2013 to continue receiving the STAR exemption in future years. This applies to everyone except seniors who already receive the Enhanced Star. Contact Assessor Bill Quick (http://www.fremontny.org/assessor.shtml) or the New York State Tax Department for details.
New legislation requires all homeowners receiving a Basic STAR exemption to register with the New York State Tax Department in order to receive the exemption in 2014 and subsequent years.
